DTWC on tap for Wayne Chinn

Bradford, OH - Wayne Chinn and Chinn Motorsports will return to one of their favorite tracks this weekend, as Jim Nier 's Kc-Raceway will host the 27th Annual Dirt Track World Championship, paying the winner $50,000 to win.

This will be "The Sniper's" second attempt at making this crown jewel event in the Dirt Late Model world. in 2006, Chinn finished 10th in his heat race, 20th in his consolation event and brought home an 8th place finish in the Jim Dunn Memorial for non qualifiers. The Erwin Dealership/C.J Rayburn Race Cars/PBM Performance/Sugar Creek Packaging/AWP of Ohio/JB Enterprises/ Hyatt Web Designs/Dodge/Rayburn has made one other appearance at KC-Raceway in the 2007 season, posting a 9th place finish in "The night the stars come out" back on July 23rd.

A brand new Rayburn Chassis and PBM/Dargie Engine will be debuted this weekend at KC-Raceway. This will be the first time in his short Late Model career Chinn will sit behind the wheel of a brand new race car, and expectations are high going into the DTWC.

Over the weekend, the team returned to victory lane, not once, but twice! Friday night Wayne was tapped to be the driver of the legendary CJ1, C.J. Rayburn house car, in the Crate Model portion of Lawrenceburg Speedway's Fun Fest. Wayne wasted no time, jumping to the lead of the race and pulling off a dominating performance. In the Super Late Model event, "The Sniper" would start on the pole and run away from the field, leading every lap, and holding off a hard charging "Lil" John Whitney for a sweep in the two Late Model divisions. In doing this, "The Sniper" Wayne Chinn became the first ever win both the Crate Model and Late Model feature in the Fun Fest's twelve year history.

After the celebration ended the team headed to Skyline Speedway , in Stewart , Ohio for the Independent Racing Series season finale. Going into the event, Chinn was mathematically still in the hunt, but needed lots of good luck to come home with a series title. In the heat race, "The Sniper" lined up third position, but made his presence felt immediately, sticking his nose under pole sitter Chris Garnes going into turn one. The tandem would battle side by side the entire event, and cross the line in an amazing photo finish that delighted the jam packed crowd. As mentioned before, Wayne would need lots of good luck to have a shot at Rick Aukland and Ryan Markham in the seasonal points, during the feature; he had the worst luck imaginable. After starting tenth and making his way towards the front, and trying to stay out of trouble, Wayne was caught behind a car with a flat tire, as he slowed to avoid it, he was spun and sent to the tail. On the restart, the car was not the same as it was in the heat race, and he never advanced far enough ahead to make a difference in the points. The Erwin Dealership/C.J Rayburn /PBM Performance/Sugar Creek Packaging/AWP of Ohio/JB Enterprises/ Hyatt Web Designs/Dodge/Rayburn brought home a disappointing seventeenth place finish to cap off the inaugural IRS season. "The Sniper" Wayne Chinn was recognized on the front stretch after the event for being the series first ever Rookie of the Year, and also finishing a strong third place in the seasonal points.

Chinn Motorsports would like to congratulate Rick Aukland, Ryan Markham , and Chris Wilson on their great seasons on the Independent Racing Series tour. We would also like to thank Dean Miracle for providing such a great series for us to race with. We look forward to seeing each and everyone of you again in 2008.

Chinn Motorsports rolled into Lawrenceburg Speedway again during the early morning hours for the final day of the Fun Fest. Due to missing the "Saturday Night Special" dash, Wayne would be relegated to the rear of the field and would only have twenty laps to improve his starting position. Over one hundred races had been completed at Lawrenceburg over the weekend, and it showed, as the racing was single file, on the bottom, rubber style racing. For the first ten laps of the event Wayne Chinn was the only driver in the field trying the high groove around the quarter mile track. Advancing no positions, and falling back, Wayne reluctantly switched to the bottom groove and began to slowly pick off cars. Riding the rubber and passing a car every lap, "The Sniper" wound up finishing sixth and advanced the most positions of any driver in the field. Unfortunately this race was marred with lots of contact and accidents, leaving the Erwin Chrysler Rayburn noseless and with lots of bent sheet metal.

"I feel like I owe the 1 of Alan Warner an apology" stated Chinn after getting out of his injured mount. "I don't race that way, and I don't like to be raced that way, the contact we made was accidental and a product of a bad racing surface."
