Chinn Finishes 4th in World 100 - Moler and Kamp next!

Bradford, OH - "The Sniper" Wayne Chinn's breakout season continued as the young Bradford, Ohio driver made a huge splash at the 37th Annual World 100, by not only making the starting field, but also finishing in the top five against the nations top names.

Chinn would start the weekend off by qualifying his Erwin Dealership/Sugar Creek Packaging/AWP of Ohio/JB Enterprises/Hyatt Web Designs/Dodge/Rayburn in the twenty eighth position out of the two hundred and three cars on hand. This would line "The Sniper" up on the outside of the front row for qualifying heat race number four. On the start of the fifthteen lap event, Chinn showed his muscle going to the lead in turn one. Over the course of the race Chinn would successfully hold off challenges from Steve Francis, Dennis Erb Jr., Billy Drake, Rick Eckert and Bart Hartman to win the heat race, leading flag to flag.

As the most prestigious Dirt Late Model race of the season rolled to the track, "The Sniper" Wayne Chinn lined up in the third position behind Shannon Buckingham and the legendary, five time World 100 winner Scott Bloomquist. At the wave of the green flag, Chinn would slide back to the fifth position behind Randy Korte. On lap eighteen, Chinn would fall back to sixth. Lap thirty one would see Darrell Lanigan pass Wayne, moving him back to seventh. This would be the furthest back he would run on the track, as his tires gained heat and he began to run faster laps, marching his way back towards the front. "The Sniper" would work the high side, passing Shannon Babb back for the sixth positition on lap thirty three. The crowd of twenty thousand plus would all stand in a frenzy as Chinn passed Scott Bloomquist on lap thirty nine. Trapped behind a lap car, Chinn would fall back to sixth on lap fifty, only to make a daring split move in the middle of turn four on lap fifty five, moving the Erwin Dealership/Sugar Creek Packaging/AWP of Ohio/JB Enterprises/Hyatt Web Designs/Dodge/Rayburn back into the fourth position. As laps winded down, "The Sniper" would hold off a hard charging Jeep Van Wormer to bring home a 4th place finish in the World 100.

This was the highest a first time entrant has finished in the World 100 since 1998. The fourth place finish was also the highest among local, Dayton, Ohio area drivers since Larry Moore finished second in the 1992 event. For Chinn, growing up just thirty miles from the historic half mile oval, making the World 100 was a dream come true.

"It took four or five laps for the tires to really fire, then once they did, the car took off," stated Chinn after the grueling Sunday afternoon event. "I was looking for a yellow at the end. At the end it was getting better. The lapped cars take time here, too, because everybody's so fast. So when you make up time, you make up a couple of feet, you don't make up car lengths here. "It's exciting. It just makes you want to come back," the 26-year-old Chinn said. "I'm looking forward to next year already. We've just gotta keep plugging away. We just keep making the team more and more solid."

"The Sniper" Wayne Chinn and Chinn Motorsports will be back in action this coming weekend for two nights of racing, kicking off Friday night at Moler Raceway Park in Mt. Orab, Ohio. A full night of racing is on tap, as Late Models headline the program with a $1,000 to win feature event. Saturday night, the team will head to Indiana, to Kamp Motor Speedway, located near Boswell, Indiana for the 6th Annual Kamp 50, paying UMP Late Models $5,000 to win. This will be "The Sniper's" first ever visit to Kamp Motor Speedway.
