Chinn wins Bear Wieck Memorial - Eldora up next!

 

Bradford, OH - After a season of coming close, several times, "The Sniper" Wayne Chinn finally tasted victory for the first time in 2007, picking up the $1,500 to win Bear Wieck Memorial win at Moler Raceway Park on Saturday night. Chinn bested a field of thirty one Super Late Models, leading all twenty five laps, uncontested.

The Labor Day weekend kicked off Friday night at Brown County Speedway in Russellville, Ohio with Wayne winning his heat race by over half a straightaway. In the feature Chinn would line up in the second row, but would waste no time finding his way to the front of the pack, taking the lead from then leader Danny Hurt on lap four of the twenty five lap event. "The Sniper" would lead the next fifteen laps before losing a driveshaft with just six laps remaining in the event. Wayne would be credited with the thirteenth position, despite his dominance all night long.

During the wee hours of Friday night/Saturday morning, Chinn Motorsports trekked to Speed Weasels Performance Warehouse, in Milford, Ohio to try and purchase some parts to fix the Erwin Dealership/Sugar Creek Packaging/AWP of Ohio/JB Enterprises/Hyatt Web Designs/Dodge/Rayburn in time for Saturday night's Bear Wieck Memorial at Moler Raceway Park. As hot laps rolled off, Wayne and team continued to work on the car as many fans and drivers stopped by the hauler wondering if he would be ready in time to race that night. Chinn would show he was more than ready as the heat race rolled out, finishing a close second to "The Boss" Barry Doss. In the redraw Chinn would draw the outside pole for the feature. At the drop of the green flag "The Sniper" would take the lead in turn one and never look back, leading all twenty five laps, picking up the $1,500 prize over "The Iceman" David Spille.

Sunday the Erwin Dealership/Sugar Creek Packaging/AWP of Ohio/JB Enterprises/Hyatt Web Designs/Dodge/Rayburn would use the Johnny Appleseed Classic as a chance to shake down the new Rayburn on the high banks of Eldora Speedway. Chinn would continue his string of impressive heat race runs, with a second place finish to Aaron Scott. Wayne would start seventh on the field for the twenty five lap affair, moving along nicely and running as high as fifth before bringing home a respectable ninth place finish.

Independent Racing Series action would face "The Sniper" on Labor Day, Monday as the stars and cars of the IRS made their inaugural visit to the Cannonball Speedway. Wayne would bring home a 3rd place finish in the heat race and would run a smooth and conservative race to finish 7th in the fifty lap race. Chinn continues to lead the IRS Rookie of the year standings by a large margin and is only twenty nine points out of the lead and nine points out of second place in the seasonal point standings. Wayne Chinn and Chinn Motorsports next venture with the IRS series will September 22nd at Skyline Speedway as the series wraps up its first competitive season.
