Bradford, OH - “The Sniper” Wayne Chinn continues his quest to win the Independent Racing Series National championship this Saturday night as the Chinn Motorsports team makes their first ever visit to the state of Virginia. Winchester Speedway will host the IRS for the first time ever with a $5,000 to win $400 to start 50 lap feature event. After eight of the scheduled fifteen races on the inaugural Independent Racing Series tour, Wayne sits in the third position, behind “Flyin” Ryan Markham and “The Badlands Bandit” Rick Aukland.
Erwin Dealership/Sugar Creek Packaging/AWP of Ohio/Dodge/Rocket competed in two IRS events over the weekend posting a 6th place finish at Hilltop Raceway after spinning to avoid a stopped car, early in the event and rallying to make a impressive run from the back of the pack, thus earning himself the hard charger award in the process. Saturday night Wayne would head to the Portsmouth Raceway Park for the second IRS event of the weekend. The night would start off on a good note as “The Sniper” continued his streak of good qualifying runs, timing in a strong tenth place in the stout thirty one car field. After qualifying through his preliminary heat Wayne would line up for the feature in the sixteenth position in the 50 lap feature. On lap seven tough luck would strike “The Sniper” as he had a tire go down after moving up six positions. After coming back on the track Wayne would post some of the fastest laps of the race, but would be held up in traffic and “The Sniper's” hopes of a top five run would be shot down after making contact with another car, changing the handling on the Erwin Dealership/Sugar Creek Packaging/AWP of Ohio/Dodge/Rocket. Wayne would fight his ill handling mount to a hard earned 12th place finish and leave Portsmouth Raceway still in contention to win the IRS championship.
The Victor “Ike” Moler Memorial race will be the target on Friday night July 27th. This race will pay $3,000 to the winner at the newly built Moler Raceway Park in Mount Orab, Ohio. Wayne has had success at Moler in his previous two visits to the track picking up a second and third place finish in his two appearances at the quarter mile oval.
Saturday night Chinn Motorsports will be back in the hunt for the IRS crown as the team will make the six plus hour trip to Winchester Speedway located in Winchester, VA. This will mark “The Sniper's” first ever visit to the state of Virginia and the Winchester Speedway.
