Bradford, OH - “The Sniper” Wayne Chinn will be back in action this coming weekend with a IRS double header on tap, as the series heads to Hilltop Speedway on Friday, July 20th and Portsmouth Raceway Park on Saturday night, July 21st. After eight of the scheduled fifteen races on the inaugural Independent Racing Series tour, Wayne sits in the second position, only seven points behind Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame driver “The Badlands Bandit” Rick Aukland.
The Chinn Motorsports raced two times this past weekend picking up top ten in IRS competition at Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, Ohio on Friday night, over a stout field of thirty drivers, from five different states. Saturday night the team would make the short trip from Rocky Top to the Portsmouth Raceway Park. Wayne and car owner Jim Chinn decided to use this race as a practice session and a night to try some different things on the Erwin Dealership/Sugar Creek Packaging/AWP of Ohio/Dodge/Rocket. This would prove to be a success the Wayne would set third fastest time in qualifying and cruise home to a third place finish in the feature event. With the fantastic run at Portsmouth and Rocky Top the team is very optimistic headed into this weekends $5,000 to win, dueling events.
Hilltop Speedway awaits the Bradford, Ohio based race team on Friday night. This will be the second time the Independent Racing Series has visited the Millersburg, Ohio speed plant. On May 4th of this year Wayne brought him a fifth place finish in an ultra competitive event, that Ohio race fans are still talking about to this day.
Saturday night will be the first ever appearance of the Independent Racing Series at Portsmouth Raceway Park. “The Sniper” Wayne Chinn has competed at PRP twice in the 2007 season bringing home a 3rd place finish last weekend and a strong run at the Lucas Oil Dirt Car Series event held two weeks ago.
