Bradford, OH - With rains showers washing out Friday nights scheduled trip to Moler Raceway Park, Chinn Motorsports headed to KC-Raceway in Alma, Ohio for "The Night the Stars Come Out" presented and sanctioned by the Independent Racing Series.
The night would start on a good note with Wayne qualifying sixth out of the thirty eight cars on hand for the $5,000 to win event. This would put "The Sniper" on the pole position for the first heat of the night. At the onset of the ten lap heat race, Wayne would stick his Erwin Dealership/Sugar Creek Packaging/AWP of Ohio/Dodge/Rocket to the high side of turn one and take the lead. Wayne lead the next nine laps before going too high in turn one and slapping the wall, allowing Robbie Blair to pass him for the win.
With his quick lap in time trials, Wayne would qualify for the IRS dash, a race comprised of the fastest drivers to make the feature race through their heat event. Wayne lined up on the outside pole and fell back to third position, giving him a second row starting spot in the forty lap A-Main. In the feature event of the night, Wayne's car did not hook up as expected, but he still managed to fight his way to a ninth place finish. Overall, Wayne and The Chinn Motorsport's team were pleased with the weekend, and with their gain in points in the very competitive IRS series.
With his constancy on the Independent Racing Series Tour in 2007, Wayne still rides in second place in the seasonal championship and has stretched his lead in the Rookie of the year standings to well over a hundred points. The IRS series will be back in action on July 13th at the Rocky Top Raceway in Ironton, Ohio.
This coming weekend, "The Sniper" looks to grab some more top ten finishes as he hits the road for an action packed weekend. Friday night the Chinn Motorsport's team head to Rocky Top Raceway for their first ever visit to the Ironton, Ohio oval. Saturday night they will head to Chuckie May's 201 Speedway for a $3,000 to win Battle of the Bluegrass event. Portsmouth Raceway Park will be the destination on Sunday as the Lucas Oil Dirtcar Series will be in action, paying $10,000 to win. Next Tuesday night the team will head back to a track Wayne Chinn has enjoyed much success at, The Lawrenceburg Speedway, for UMP Summer Nationals.
The Sniper will have temporary tattoos and buttons available for the kids. Shirts, hats, decals and cup coolers will be on sale at the hauler for the big kids. You can also purchase all these items and more on Wayne Chinn's official website at: www.waynechinn1.com
