Bradford, OH - Wayne Chinn and the Chinn Motorsports Erwin Dealership/Sugar Creek Packaging/AWP of Ohio/Dodge/Rocket picked up two top ten finishes over the weekend. The Bradford, Ohio driver, known by fans as “The Sniper”, made a trip south to Moler Raceway Park before heading east to the legendary Tyler County Speedway for an IRS sanctioned event.
Kevin and Kim Moler’s newly built Moler Raceway Park was the site of the first race of the weekend for “The Sniper.” Wayne started fifth in his heat race and worked his way into the third place by the end of the ten lap event. “The Sniper” would draw another fifth place starting spot, this time for the twenty five lap feature event. At the drop of the green flag Wayne moved into fourth going into the first turn. The next ten laps Wayne would give chase to the third place car of Rick Combs. “The Sniper” would dive under Combs and set his sights on second place running “Lil” John Whitney. With seven laps remaining Chinn would slide under Whitney moving into the second position behind a very fast “Big Show” Robby Hensley. With Hensley caught up in lap traffic Wayne began to close in on the leader. A yellow flag slowed the field with two laps remaining in the race. When the race resumed, Wayne made one last ditch effort to pass Hensley, but fell just short giving Robby Hensley his first career victory. Wayne Chinn and Chinn Motorsports would like to extend a congratulations to Mr. Hensley on his first of many wins.
A five hour trip would await Chinn Motorsports on Saturday morning as the team headed to Tyler County Speedway for their annual “King of the Bullring” sanctioned by the Independent Racing Series. Wayne would go out late in qualifying, thus giving him a slower lap than those who went out earlier in the session. “The Sniper” started sixth in his ten lap heat race and survived for a third place finish, ensuring himself a birth in fifty lap main event. The Chinn Motorsports Erwin Dealership/Sugar Creek Packaging/AWP of Ohio/Dodge/Rocket lined up on the starting grid thirteenth but did not stay there long as “The Sniper” would head to the topside. Wayne picked off several cars and made many daring moves through lapped traffic in route to a seventh place finish. “The Sniper” maintained his second position in IRS point’s standings and continues to lead the Rookie of the year chase heading into this weekends event at KC-Raceway.
This weekend “The Sniper” will take his Dargie Powered Rocket back to Moler Raceway Park for a regular show before heading to KC-Raceway. “The Night the Stars come out’ will be sanctioned by the Independent Racing Series and will pay the winner $5,000 to win.
