Bradford, OH - Wayne Chinn faces a busy weekend as the team will head to Eldora Speedway for the 13th Annual Dream 100 Thursday through Saturday. After this event, Wayne will be driving through the night to Challenger Speedway for their Independent Racing Series sanctioned Mega Blitz '07.
This past weekend, Chinn Motorsports made a trip south on Friday night to the newly built Moler Raceway Park for a regular show. Wayne drew the last place starting spot in his heat race but wasted no time jumping to the second position on the second lap. “The Sniper” wound up with a second place finish to the previous week feature winner “Lil” John Whitney. Before the feature event Wayne drew the pole position for the thirty-lap affair and led the field into turn one as the leader. After leading twenty laps of the event Wayne would succumb Rick Combs and Barry Doss and brought his Erwin Dealership/AWP of Ohio/Dodge/Rocket home in third.
Saturday night would be the 21st Annual Ralph Latham Memorial at the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. After a good qualifying run, Wayne lined up in the first heat race against Scott Bloomquist, Ray Cook, Donnie Moran and several of the nations finest Dirt Late Model drivers. Fighting an ill handling racecar, Wayne would muster a ninth place finish, which sent him to the consolation event. After making some changes, “The Sniper” started deep in the field for the last chance qualifier. He would make some progress towards the front of the field passing stars such as Donnie Moran and former North South 100 winner Dan Schlieper before capping off the weekend with a eighth place finish out of eighteen cars.
“The Sniper” Wayne Chinn is currently running second in the overall IRS Seasonal points standings, a mere one out behind current leader Rick Aukland. Wayne holds a commanding lead in the Rookie of the year points after four of sixteen events.
