Bradford, OH - This coming weekend “The Sniper” Wayne Chinn will compete in two races, making his debut at Moler Raceway Park in Mt. Orab, Ohio and finishing the weekend at the 21st running of the Ralph Latham Memorial at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky.
“The Sniper” in his Erwin Dealership/AWP of Ohio/Dodge/Rocket competed in four races over the extended holiday weekend. Friday night the team made the trek to Stewart, Ohio for the MACS series opener at the Skyline Speedway. Wayne would finish 5th in the heat race and a disappointing 9th in the Consi. Saturday Chinn Motorsports would be back on the IRS trail at the Muskigham County Speedway for a $5,000 to win main event for the Independent Racing Series. Wayne would win his qualifying heat race by a straightaway and was expecting another strong run in the feature, but those hopes were quickly dashed as a bolt broke on the air cleaner sending the Bradford, Ohio driver pit side. After hard work and determination by the CMS pit crew Wayne returned to the track many laps down and wound up finishing 23rd. Despite having an “off night” Wayne retained the second position in the Independent Racing Series seasonal point standings, one point behind current leader Rick Aukland. “The Sniper” also sits atop the Rookie of the Year standing in the Independent Racing Series. Sunday night the team set their sights for their home track Eldora Speedway. Wayne jumped to the lead on the initial start of his heat race, but a yellow flag closed the field back up. On the restart Wayne would not get a good start, but still rolled to a 3rd place finish. In the consolation race Wayne chased the leaders and got faster as the race progressed and passed Eldora Speedway veteran “Racin” John Mason on the last lap, to finish 3rd one spot out of the feature event. On Monday a last minute decision was made to travel to Kentucky for the second round of Kentucky Speedweek at the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Kentucky. Things never really clicked for the team and Wayne finished 8th in the heat and 7th in the Consi.
