Bradford, OH - After a couple weeks of bad luck and misfortune, “The Sniper” Wayne Chinn returned to Florence Speedway for their opening night Spring Tune up event. Wayne started the night qualifying 18th in a field of 58 stout O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series race teams. The Bradford Ohio native would make the nights 30 lap feature by riding his Erwin Dealership/AWP of Ohio/Rocket to a second place finish in the sixth qualifying heat race. In the main event of the night “The Sniper” returned to the form that brought him a feature race win at Florence Speedway, this week just one year ago. Wayne started the event in 12th position and had worked his way to a strong 8th place before his ignition system malfunctioned on the final lap. With no power and coasting Wayne was still able to fight his way into a respectable 15th place finish.
“It was great to come back to Florence” stated Chinn from his hauler late Friday night. “We have always had success at this track and felt we had a great car tonight. Had we started closer to the front we could have possibly put ourselves into a position to win this thing. We were really excited about the Spring 50, and thought we had a car capable of winning, had the rain stayed away.”
Plans are still in the air for next weekend. Friday night Wayne Chinn Racing will be in action at Twin Cities Raceway Park for their $3,000 to win O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series event. Saturday night will take “The Sniper” to either Brownstown Speedway for the 24th Annual Hoosier Dirt Classic or to Florence Speedway for their $2,000 to win season points opening event. Continue to check the website and myspace page for an official ruling on which event he will be attending sometime later in the week.
