"The Sniper" picks off the season opener at Oakshade

Bradford, OH - Chinn Motorsports kicked off their weekend at KC Raceway for the Ralph Seymour Memorial on Friday night for the $5,000 to win 47 lap feature event. During the qualifying heat race “The Sniper” Wayne Chinn ran into mechanical issues, breaking the rearend and ending his night. The team worked hard on Friday night and Saturday morning to replace the rearend, but mother nature moved in and washed out the $10,000 to win O’Reilly All Star event scheduled for Saturday evening.

The crew quickly loaded their equipment and headed north to Oakshade Raceway, in Wauseon, Ohio where the chances of rain where less likely to hit. “The Sniper” picked up the win in the heat race from the seventh position in his Erwin Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Troy Ohio / Sugar Creek Packing /American Racer Tires #1 C.J. Rayburn Race Car to put himself in the redraw for the 25 lap feature line up, where he would roll off from outside the third row.

When the green flag dropped it was business as usual for “The Sniper” Wayne Chinn as he started to move forward right away advancing in to the top five before a caution on lap two. A few laps after the restart a three way battle for the lead heated up as Jon Henry and Chinn applied pressure to race leader Andrew Reaume. Henry moved in to the race lead as Chinn moved up to the second position, then a race long battle would ensue between the two for the top spot. “The Sniper” used the high side of the race track in turns 1 and 2 as he launched to the lead on lap 12, but the caution waved on lap 18 with 7 laps remaining.

On the restart Henry retook the lead as Chinn stayed glued to his rear bumper, as the caution waved one last time with only 2 laps remaining setting up a green, white checker finish. When the green flag waved for the final time it was Henry and Chinn side by side down the front stretch as they shot in to turn 1. “The Sniper” used the low side of the track to put his Erwin Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Troy Ohio / Sugar Creek Packing /American Racer Tires #1 C.J. Rayburn Race Car back in the top spot as he held off Rusty Schlenk and Jon Henry to pick up his first victory of the season, taking home the season opener at Oakshade Raceway for the second year in a row.
