"The Sniper" looks to rebound with Triple Header weekend

Bradford, OH - Chinn Motorsports started off their weekend at Moler Raceway Park on Friday night. During the qualifying heat race the Erwin Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Troy Ohio / Sugar Creek Packing /American Racer Tires #1 C.J. Rayburn Race Car ran into problems on the opening lap, after making contact with another car. The contact was just enough to bend the right front suspension and end the chances for a heat race win.

After the problems during the heat "The Sniper" Wayne Chinn rolled off the starting grid from inside the sixth row. It didn't take long before he started working his way through the field using both the high and low lines of the racetrack. After Chinn moved into the fourth position, the leader Duane Chamberland, slowed with a flat tire, setting up a final dash to the checkers. Chad Stapleton took over the race lead with Jason Jamison and "The Sniper" on his tail. A battle for the lead brought the crowd to their feet as the three cars pulled away from the rest of the field and moved in on lap traffic.

Once the lead trio got into traffic Jamison and Chinn both moved around Stapleton as they raced for the lead. A cloud of smoke started to form from behind the Erwin Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Troy Ohio / Sugar Creek Packing /American Racer Tires #1 C.J. Rayburn Race Car as it slowed to a stop with a hole in an oil line, ending a great run and the chances at a win.

The following night the Chinn Motorsports team traveled down to Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee for CJ Rayburn's NASRA series event, paying $3,000 to win. "The Sniper" qualified fifth quick out of the twenty-five entrants and was set to start on the pole of the second qualifying heat race. After an opening lap battle with Vic Hill, Chinn settled into second position, until the final lap. A lap car slowed down the leader Hill as the rest of the field closed in fast. Chinn turned down to go under Hill, but contact from behind almost sent the Erwin Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Troy Ohio / Sugar Creek Packing /American Racer Tires #1 C.J. Rayburn Race Car around, but Chinn saved it and managed a fourth place finish.
